The Dunajec River Gorge runs through one of the most beautiful places in Poland – a small rocky mountain range – Pieniny.
The Dunajec gorge is featured on UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites and together with the amazing architecture of castles, country houses and wooden churches it is a main tourist attraction and a highlight of the region.
Wooden canoe (tratwy) trips have been organized there by local highlanders since the 19th century.
Our adventure begins in Sromowce Nizne and ends in Szczawnica. It takes about 18km and up to 3 hours (depending on the water level) of admiring the scenery, a rich world of limestone rocks and a varied fauna and flora. It is completely safe as the river is just slightly over 1m deep and there is a guide with a pole on every raft.
After the rafting you can take a glimpse of the beautiful and peaceful health resort, Szczawnica with its lovely wooden architecture and you will have the chance to admire the famous medieval castle in Niedzica and the wooden Gothic country church in Debno which was also entered on the UNESCO List.
